Warriors rally to beat Knicks

Warriors knocked off the New York Knicks 92-78 in the fourth quarter.Monta Ellis scored 12 of 22 points. He was in the position to take over the game because defense
Kept the warriors in the game.Amare Stoudemire and Carmelo Anthony has scored
58 points.Stoudemire finished with 16 points and 10 rebounds, where as Anthony had 13 points. Ish Smith had 11 points ,four assists and six rebounds. But it was the Warriors’ defense that made the biggest difference a refreshing change considering the team’s recent history of shunning that part of the game. No one else could pick up the scoring slack for the Knicks, who were also outrebounded 47-31 by the smaller but quicker Warriors. Landry Fields had 13 of his 14 points in the first half. Bill Walker also scored 14 for the Knicks, who failed in their bid to start the season with consecutive victories for the first time since 1999.
Former Knick David Lee scored 13 points for Golden State (2-1).
This was the first stop on a three-game trip to the West Coast for New York.
The Knicks, who beat the Celtics on Christmas Day to kick off the truncated NBA schedule after losing all eight games to Boston in 2010, play the Lakers in Los Angeles on Thursday. They return to Northern California to face the Sacramento Kings on Saturday.
The Warriors played without Curry, who landed awkwardly on his surgically repaired right ankle in the fourth quarter of Monday’s win over Chicago.
It was the second time in seven days that Curry injured the ankle. He also missed eight games last season because of lingering ankle problems.
Smith started in place of Curry and scored seven of Golden State’s first 10 points. He finished 5 of 13 from the floor. Anthony and Stoudemire couldn’t get much of anything to fall. The duo repeatedly settled for long jumpers, a trend that continued deep into the fourth quarter.
Even with their two stars off to a slow start, the Knicks took a 43-37 lead into the half.
Golden State closed the gap with a 15-5 run early in the second half, tied the game at 64 when Rush made a 3-pointer with 0.7 seconds remaining in the third quarter, then took control with 20-6 burst in the fourth.
The Warriors opened a 19-point lead with 4:09 left when the Knicks frustrations began to show.Tyson Chandler tossed Lee to the ground and was whistled for a technical foul, bringing the sold-out crowd at Oracle Arena to its feet.

Sri Lanka Vs South Africa 1ST Test

Sri Lanka started first innings and scored 76-3 till lunch on day 1. Opener Tharanga was
Bowled for 32 by Vernon Philander .On the top Sri Lanka Captain Tilakaratne Dilshan
And Kumar Sangakkara were dismissed.Paranavitana and Mahela Jayawerdene formed a half century. The experienced former captain Jayawardene held Sri Lankan hopes of a competitive first-innings score. Fellow veteran Thilan Samaraweera was 6 not out alongside him.
Dilshan fell for 6 to top-edged pull shot off Dale Steyn in the fifth over to give South Africa the early thrust in the three-match series and contribute Steyn his 250th Test wicket.
Steyn reached the objective in his 49th test, the second quickest bowler to get there after former Australia great Dennis Lillee achieved it in 48 matches.
Sangakkara was dismissed by Philander straight after when he sent an outside edge to Jacques Kallis at second slip and the early breakthroughs justified Graeme Smith's decision to ask the tourists to bat on a green track at Centurion.
Paravitana rode an uncomfortable spell when he was hit on the helmet by Morne Morkel and struck on the shoulder by Philander in quick succession, but he fought back with four fours and frustrated the bowlers alongside Jayawardene to drag Sri Lanka from 12-2 to 66-2.
The left-hander beat a leg for his fourth boundary in the 23rd over, but Philander struck next ball and for the second time in the session with a full paced delivery.

Pakistan declared their first innings on 594-5 in response to Bangladesh's first-innings total of 135.

India won the final Match

India won the Final and fifth match of the five match 4-1by 34 runs. Even though Pollard

Hit a century (119) its of no use in achieving a victory for West Indies he was the last man out when Ajinkya Rahane took a smart catch off Suresh Raina’s bowling.Ravindra Jadeja was the pick of the Indian bowlers as he took the 3 wickets for 62.

India gave the target of 268 to visitors and it got off a worst start as Irfan Pathan and

Abhimayu Mithun blew away the top four for only 36 runs on the board.Denesh Ramdin

Was then removed by Jadeja at 78 for 5 only but Pollard and all rounder Andre Russell

Furious batting of 89 in 79 balls proved a good start until Russell was run out .

Darren Sammy was dismissed by Jadeja but Pollard kept the score card ticking with some good shots till he reached his century. He finally came down at the end of the Final match.

Manoj Tiwary's maiden ODI hundred saw India to a solid score of 267 for 6. On a slow track, West Indies let the game slip after a terrific start that saw Kemar Roach reduce India to 1 for 2, as Tiwary guided the hosts to a highly competitive total.

West Indies made the perfect start when Roach removed Rahane and Parthiv Patel for first-ball ducks in the first over of the match, but a 83-run partnership between Gautam Gambhir (31) and Tiwary put India back on track. Tiwary then set about taking the game away from the opposition as he ploughed through his second fifty in a 117-run partnership with Virat Kohli.

Although Tiwary was forced to shuffle one single later as he gave in to the cramps which had determined him in the final part of his innings, Kohli went to 80 from 85 balls before finally alternative out long-on. The final overs were not as beneficial as India would have liked - they scored just 53 runs in the last 10.
