Kenyan Skipper Talks About Split Talk

Colombo, Feb 28 (AFP): Jimmy Kamande Kenyan skipper clarified that the split between the players and their West Indian Coach Eldine Baptiste were the Issues which gather only after defeats.

Means he simply brushed aside the reports by saying so. Kenyan capital Nairobi reported that there were divisions within the squad. Kenya Cricket chief Samir Inamdar blamed that those differences were there because of Team’s dreary performances.

According to Kamande Even after two devastating World Cup disasters so far the team is united. He said that his team is very firm and they are all together as one before hi s third matches in Group A against Sri Lanka in Colombo on Tuesday. He also said that when a Team loses people try to find a way for excuses. There are no excuses on those lines, just that we haven't performed well so far and will try to do well in the rest of the games.

Kenya needs to know the basics right as they were shot out for 69 against New Zealand and 112 Against Pakistan in their matches, in Kamnade’s words. Apparently the team is not on top form .So there must some changes to be done like in batting order so that the team should not continue Doing the same thing and he also said that he doesn’t want to obscure the Cricket Game.

Sri Lanka, the captain said, were one of the top teams in the competition, in spite of their narrow defeat to Pakistan. Kamande said that they have a third game against a top side and they need to work hard to get a Good result. Hopefully he wants to get the best out of team players and the players should also realize the same.

Kenya defeated Sri Lanka in the 2003 World Cup, in Nairobi, but has a 4-1 losing record in ODIs between the two sides. Kamande said the pressure was on the 1996 champions.

Kamande said “Sri Lanka look solid up there, but we have nothing to lose. They are the ones who would be under pressure to perform at home and now obviously having lost to Pakistan it's a must-win game for them."

"We will try to put some pressure on them. We will try to go out there and bowl at a nice tight line and length and if we do it will add problems for the Sri Lankan side."

Knick Anthony is ready for expectations

Madison Square Garden roared with the sounds of crowd when they heard overhead video board. It was written that he was born in Brooklyn, New York, home town for Carmelo Anthony.Anthony instantly became a star when he scored 27 points and grabs 10 rebounds in a 114-108 win over Milwaukee Bucks on his day 1 as a Knick...

Anthony could only think about the Knicks even though he was worn out from the commotion and a cross country tour to New York. He struggled with his shots after his debut. According to him Basketball game means a lot to him and all that matters is to win.

Anthony made only 10 of 25 shots but was at his best in the closing minutes, helping New York hold on after fellow superstar Amare Stoudemire fouled out. He matched the third-highest scoring game in a Knicks debut since 1964, just two points shy of Keith Van Horn’s record 29 on Oct. 29, 2003.

Stoudemire said that he played really great Carmelo basketball as himself.

Anthony decided last summer he wanted out of Denver, the team that drafted him third overall in 2003. The Brooklyn native wanted the deal to New York, in part for the opportunities it will present he and his actress wife, La Vazquez, who was among the crowd that filled the lobby of the Theater at Madison Square Garden and was interviewed by the MSG Network at halftime.

But Anthony made it clear his focus is on Madison Square Garden’s basketball court, where he averaged 30.4 points in his visits with Denver, just behind Kobe Bryant’s (30.5 for best among active players.

Wearing a Knicks warm-up suit and orange headband, Anthony beamed as he posed for photos holding his new jersey he says that “He knows what it takes to win championships,”. “He knows what it takes to win basketball games.”

The Knicks haven’t made the playoffs since 2004. They are in sixth place in the Eastern Conference in their first season since acquiring Stoudemire from Phoenix last summer.

Stoudemire has said the blockbuster deal could make them better prepared to face teams like Boston and Miami, which already have multiple All-Stars, in the postseason.

Conflict between fans and Cops at Bangalore

Police beat-up hundreds of fans with sticks outside Bangalore's M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Thursday because there was a shortage of tickets on sale for the World Cup match between India and England.

Thousands had camped outside the stadium since Wednesday hoping to get their hands on one of the 7,000 tickets on sale for Sunday's game. Violence erupted after the allocation sold out in three hours.

"The biggest challenge we face today is to meet the expectations of the people, that is not possible, that is never possible," former player Javagal Srinath, who is now the secretary of the Karnataka Cricket Association responsible for the Bangalore match, told a news conference.

"There is a limit where we can keep people happy. There is not much we can do. Around 7,000 tickets were all sold out in three hours," a grinning Srinath added as he exchanged jokes with the assembled media.

After the box office sold its quota of tickets by 1130 local time (0600 GMT), those who missed out vented their frustration by hitting out at police, causing damage to the area.

The venue was given hosting rights for the highly-anticipated Group B match after the International Cricket Council (ICC) was with unhappy with the preparations at the 100,000-seater Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Ticket sales for the February 19-April 2 tournament have proven to be a major headache for organizers, who are unable to meet demand for the high-profile matches, especially those featuring India as well as the April 2 final in Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium.

Thursday's ugly scenes would have raised further question marks about the way tickets are being distributed in the cricket-crazy nation.

Only a small quota for the major matches is being sold directly to the public while the rest are distributed among the ICC and clubs affiliated to the local cricket associations.

Thursday's clashes occurred just a few hours after NDTV news channel reported that the ICC has sent a memo to its president, Sharad Pawar, warning that tickets for the final should not be sold at the box office because the high demand created the "potential for chaos and physical injury when the box office sales open."

Pawar is the chairman of the tournament's Central Organizing Committee and is also president of the Mumbai Cricket Association, which is in charge of the Wankhede Stadium.

Monday, the official online ticket agency that had been expected to sell 1,000 tickets for the final crashed as 10 million fans tried to log on in just 20 minutes.
